🎯 Objective

Use conventional spelling for words with common patterns Students practice through a printed warm-up, then reinforce with an interactive game at their own pace.

📄 Warm-up (5–10 min): printable worksheet

Print one per student. Work the first two items together, then let students finish independently.

  • Spelling Patterns: Introduction — Discover short vowels, consonant blends, and word families — the three key spelling patterns for Grade 1.
  • Consonant Blends — Identify, circle, and sort beginning consonant blends in Grade 1 words.
  • Short Vowels Review — Find, sort, and complete words using the five short vowel sounds: a, e, i, o, u.
