Letter sequencing is ordering a scrambled set of letters into a word: t-a-c into cat, later l-e-p-p-a into apple. It is a bridge skill between knowing a word's sounds and producing its spelling, and it is used from Grade 2 to Grade 5 as a low-stakes way to rehearse spelling words. A child who can unscramble a word but cannot spell it from dictation has recognition without recall; the reverse is rare. Watch for children who make any real word from the letters (tac / act) — give the definition or picture alongside. These worksheets scramble the week's words with a clue; the Letter Unscramble game does the same with drag-and-drop tiles.
