A long vowel can come from an open syllable (ti·ger — the syllable ends with the vowel), a vowel team (rain·coat), or a silent e (base·ball). Split the word, then find the long vowel.
Examples: tiger → ti·ger · daylight → day·light · oatmeal → oat·meal
