Every short word has two parts: the first sound (the onset) and the rest of the word (the rime). Say them slowly, then push them together: c + at → cat.
Examples: c + at → cat · h + op → hop · b + ug → bug
Say each part out loud, then blend them. Write the whole word on the line.
